“Mexican pianist
conquers Carnegie Hall”. These were the headlines after Daniela’s presentation
in New York a few days ago.
There, were
only the best get the chance to perform, right there was this child, just 11 years
old, playing the piano, sharing her gift.
She is now in
Germany attending Lang Lang’s coveted Junior Music Camp for exceptional music
students. Learning from the best. Over 300 children applied for a spot, 12 were
selected, hand-picked. Daniela, from Guadalajara, is one of them and the only
Mexican in the group. This is her second time there.
Daniela has been
making music for sometime now. She found her love for it when she was 3 years
old, entering formal practice when she turned 7. Talent, family and tutor, that’s the secret, agree her
parents and teacher. Support and commitment, one could add.
She has a gift,
no doubt about it. But music must be made, it requires a hands on attitude,
hours of practice, hard work.
But Daniela already
knows this and she reminds us, beautifully, with each and every note.
