Hay una versión mexicana de Mi Boda Griega. Bueno, no exactamente, aunque creo que no hay mucha diferencia entre bodas griegas y mexicanas. Pero ese es otro tema.
Me refiero a que, en la película, el papá de la novia jura que el Windex limpia vidrios y cura todo.
En México hay un ungüento de los años 40 que hasta el día de hoy es un básico en muchos hogares…Y FUNCIONA.

Recuerdo bien los comerciales, pero recuerdo mejor las indicaciones de mi papá, que siempre tiene un poco a la mano, no viaja sin llevarlo y me lo trae de regalo. ¿Te picó un mosco? Ponte…. ¿Te está saliendo un barrito? Ponte …. ¿Te quemaste con la plancha? Ponte…
¡Ah, que…! Aquí va el comercial para recordar.

There is a Mexican version of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Well, not precisely the movie, although Mexican and Greek weddings are not that different, if you ask me. More on that later.  Back to the point, in the movie, there is a miracle product that seems to fix everything. Windex anyone?
In our case, there is also a magic cure. It’s not a cleaning product but a topical cream which helps with any skin related issue, ANY. Dating back to the 40’s it’s still a staple in most Mexican homes and it WORKS!
I remember the TV ads very well, but I remember even better the recommendations of my dad, who always has some at hand, doesn’t travel without it and makes sure I have some at home too. Thanks dad!
Mosquito bite? Apply some… Ugly zit on sight? Apply some… Flat iron burn? Apply some…
Ask any Mexican, they may remember the slogan. Here’s a vintage ad.
